Thala Ajith in many interviews during his early days has cited Kamal Haasan as his role model in cinema and has huge respect for him to date. An interesting tidbit has emerged how Ajith stopped his film to facilitate one of Kamal's memorable films to be made.

This month the sixteenth anniversary of Kamal Haasan's comedy-drama 'Vasool Raja MBBS' is being celebrated by fans. The film was the remake of Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 'Munna Bhai MBBS' starring Sanjay Dutt. Kamal's brilliant performance, Crazy Mohan's strong comedy and sentiment dialogues combined to make it one of the most repeated viewed films by Tamil audiences.

Director Saran in a recent interaction has shared that he was shooting Thala Ajith's 'Attakasam' in which the mass hero played dual roles when he was called in for 'Vasool Raja MBBS'. Since Kamal had given limited number of days for the project he was forced to start shooting within fifteen days of getting on board.

Saran then revealed that he opened up to Ajith about the situation and asked him for permission and the Thala immediately gave him the go-ahead stating that it is a once in a life opportunity to work with the Ulaganayagan and Saran should not miss it.

Saran looking back thankfully has gushed that if Ajith had not been accommodative he could never have directed the much loved Kamal Haasan classic 'Vasool Raja MBBS'.
