Ever since the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput, actress Kangana Ranaut has taken it upon herself to bring "justice" in the cine industry. Convinced that a "mafia" in Bollywood is responsible for the suicide of the actor, Kangana has made numerous baseless, controversial statements in the last couple of months.

Recently, veteran Bollywood actress and Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan mentioned in Rajya Sabha that a few people, who gained fame through Bollywood, were defaming the same industry. "People in the entertainment industry are being flogged by social media. People who made their names in the industry have called it a gutter. I completely disagree. I hope that govt tells such people not to use this kind of language. Some of the people who have got name and fame has said it is 'gutter.' It is the film industry that gave name and fame to many people. There is a continuous process to defame the industry for the things done by a handful," Jaya Bachchan said. In response to her statement, Kangana mentioned that all she got out of Bollywood was a 2-minute role and item numbers, and that was after 'sleeping with the hero.' Kangana wrote on Twitter, "Which thali (plate) has Jaya ji and her industry given? Got one thali which had a two-minute role, item numbers and one romantic scene, that too after sleeping with the hero. I taught feminism to this industry, decorated the thali with patriotic and female-centric films. This is my own thali, not yours Jaya ji."

Actress Swara Bhasker took to Twitter to call out Kangana for her "shameful comment." Swara had written in Hindi, "Sickening Kangana. Shameful comment! Limit your dirt to yourself. If you want to hurl abuses, direct them towards me. I will listen to your rubbish talks happily and will also indulge in this mud-wrestling with you. But respecting the elderly is the first lesson of Indian culture. And you are a rigid nationalist."
