Two men attempted to kidnap an 8-year-old girl, Harshini, in Maduravoyal on Tuesday night. Harshini had come to her uncle’s house in Thanikachalam Nagar for the summer vacation. When she was playing outside the house on B Block, two unidentified men on a two-wheeler approached her. Thankfully, the neighbours who noticed the strangers raised an alarm. This made the men flee the scene before people could reach them.

The girl’s uncle Punniyakotti had registered a complaint and a case has been filed in the Madhavaram police station. An ongoing investigation attempts to use CCTV footage to identify the abductors and their motive. Recent cases show that such camera evidence has been instrumental in catching criminals.
