KTR on allegations of tapping heroines phones

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has vehemently denied any involvement in the alleged phone tapping scandal that reportedly occurred during the BRS government's tenure. He addressed the media at the party headquarters, claiming that the selective leaks of information from the accused's remand reports were an attempt by the Congress to defame him.

KTR's Assertions:

He firmly denied any connection to phone tapping and dismissed allegations of threatening film actresses as "a figment of their imagination." He stated that he would not tolerate character assassination and would pursue legal action against such accusations. He reiterated that he had no need to tap the phones of actresses and accused Revanth Reddy of being the source of the leaks. He challenged his accusers to face him directly instead of resorting to such tactics.

Demanding a Wider Investigation:

KTR demanded an inquiry into phone tapping dating back to 2004, specifically during the ten years of Congress rule in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. He cited allegations made by former Telangana MPs Komatireddy Venkatreddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, and Gaddam Vivek, who claimed their phones were tapped by the Kiran Kumar Reddy government. Additionally, he mentioned a 2022 incident where Apple cautioned him and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi about their phones being hacked.

Counter-accusations by Congress:

Meanwhile, Congress leader and minister Konda Surekha alleged that KTR was involved in phone tapping and had threatened film actresses. She referred to the confession statements of accused police officers, claiming they had snooped on Tollywood personalities and even extorted some of them. Surekha predicted that both KTR and his father, K. Chandrashekar Rao, would soon be arrested for their involvement in the scam. This situation presents a conflicting narrative with KTR vehemently denying the accusations and demanding a broader investigation, while the Congress continues to level allegations against him and the BRS leadership. The truth behind the phone tapping scandal remains to be determined through a thorough and impartial investigation.
