Director KV Anand clarifies that he did not make ‘Ayan’ keeping Suriya in mind, but he says nobody could have done the role better than him. “It’s not just a heroic film, it has many sides to it, and Suriya has been able to do full justice to it,” says the director, who says the reports of the film’s collection have been very inspiring.

“Given the nature of the script, I was firm that I wanted the stunts to be done really. ‘Ayan’ doesn't require a hero to bash up 20 villains but had to be real,” says the director, speaking of Suriya’s ability to do stunt sequences, even risky ones. “All it takes to do good stunts is some guts, a good body and energy and Suriya has abundance of them. So he did all stunts by himself despite us taking a few stuntmen for some shots.”

Speaking about the film’s story, ‘If the story has a copyright, it can be only with the newspapers,” jokes the director. Handling many tricky topics from piracy to smuggling, he says the movie has used only real-life incidents.

The film also captures places from Parry’s Corner to Zanzibar in all its pristine beauty, says the director. The titles of the film show the night life in Las Vegas shot through a helicopter, he added.
