Joining the long list of directors taking to production is Lingusamy.

The man who churned out several blockbusters like Anandham, Run and Sandai Kozhi will produce a movie to be directed by Ezhil.

Ezhil, who directed movies like Penin Manadhai Thottu, Thulladha Manamum Thullum and Raja will wield the megaphone for this new movie while Jeyam Ravi and Bhavana would come together in lead roles.

The shooting of this untitled film will start in the first week of July in Chennai. It may be recalled that directors like Bala, Saran, Cheran, Shankar have floated their own production houses.

Lingusamy is now directing Vikram for Bheema produced by A M Ratnam's Sri Surya Movies.

The phenomenon of directors becoming producers is interesting. Perhaps, it is a pointer to two things. One there is lot of money to be made in production. Or else, new producers are hard to come by and the directors have no other go but to make movies themselves.

As ever, the truth may lie somewhere in between.
