Following Spain's victory in the World Cup last week, an incident involving Jennifer Hermoso and Luis Rubiales has garnered attention. Reports suggest that Rubiales, the president of the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), kissed Hermoso without her consent while presenting medals to the world champions.

Although Rubiales asserted that the kiss was consensual, Hermoso refuted this claim, asserting that she did not agree to it. Furthermore, she stated that she was influenced into making a statement that downplayed the incident.

In her statement on Friday, Hermoso stated, "I want to clarify that the kiss was not consensual. While I was asked to make a joint statement to manage the situation, my primary focus was on celebrating our historic achievement. Despite my reluctance, I was subjected to ongoing pressure to validate Mr. Rubiales' actions."

She emphasized, "The situation left me feeling vulnerable and as a victim of an unsolicited, inappropriate gesture that lacked my consent. Simply put, I was not treated with respect."

In response to the incident, a significant number of Hermoso's fellow Spain players have shown solidarity. 81 players have voiced their decision to boycott the national team until Rubiales steps down from his role. FutPro, the players' union, released a statement expressing their condemnation of Rubiales' behavior and their demand for his resignation.

In the aftermath of the incident, legal action has been initiated against Rubiales by the Spanish government, and FIFA has taken disciplinary measures in response to the situation.
