After delivering a path breaking film in Attakathi` that celebrated a guy next door who often fails in his love attempts, director Pa.Ranjith is back again with a raw and rustic Chennai based film aptly titled as Madras` the old name of the Metropolitan city. The film stars Karthi and Catherine Thresa in lead roles and it will be hitting the screens on Friday (26th September).

While everyone, including Karthi is so excited about the film since it is touted to unveil a rarely spoken side of Chennai, here is what the director has to say about his ambitious project. He says it the film`s story is suitable to be written as a novel.

Ranjith has said “If it has to be written, I`m sure this would be a good one. But Madras will be a novel in cinema. This is based on real life incidents, but doesn`t focus on a character alone, but a group of individuals. In real life, I have a friend named Prabhu, who is so innocent, but often get angry. This unique quality in him inspired me to sketch the character for my film.”

Meanwhile the advance bookings for the film have just started and the tickets are selling like hot cakes. Madras` has been produced by K.E.Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green and the musical score has been rendered by Santhosh Narayanan. The songs from the film's music album have become Chartbusters.
