What is it all about?

Bollywood.. palat.. Tera hero idhaar hai.. yes finally after a long time a David Dhawan comedy that you can sit through and enjoy without wanting to throw a hammer through the screen. Buffoonery? Yes.  Enjoyable? Most definitely.

Following the rules of what a David Dhawan masala entertainer ordered remember `Aankein' `Hero No.1', `Coolie No.1', `Judwa', `Raja Babu' `Sajan Chale Sasural' and all, `Main Tera Hero' (MTH) captures the soul of the entertainment hungry Bollywood with a hit written all over it face.

MTH is entertaining, funny, serving up Varun Dhawan in a way that enhances his most winning qualities as a massy paisa vasool performer.. B.O. prospects are buoyant, with strong odds for the film coming from its hit music a genuine success story of 2014 for David, Varun and Balaji is on cards.

The Story

Bollywoodising the Telugu film `Kandireega' Tushar Hiranandani and Milap Zaveri leave no stone unturned in making it a mass entertainer with good crowd pleasing punches and humour.

Ever smiling Seenu (Varun) is a maa ka laadla who is good in every other things but academics. This new age Govinda in his six pack abs dancing in straight fit off white trousers and colour baniyan sets off for some gyan from Ooty to bump into this beauty Sunaina (Ileana) - hounded by a aggressive police officer Angad (Arunoday). Seenu with his street smart acts scores over Angad but the Hero is unknowingly under the sexy eyes of Ayesha (Nargis) - daughter of Vikrant (Anupam Kher) the don of Asia and Africa.

How Seenu manages to handle the mayhem finds the crux of this entertainer.

What to look out for

Two plus hour of good entertainment which makes sure that you don't think while watching. Bringing back the prolific David Dhawan we loved in command where the master of mainstream no brainers deserves much credit for exacting just the right degree of outrageousness without spinning into some wild orbit in this film celebrating his own school of filmmaking where gangsters behave like clowns and we don,t frown.

MTH is about skill, caring and good judgment to make such buffoonery work mind you its sappy for anyone to imagine a bhajan take-off on Budtameez Dil (outstanding), a Don words getting echo like a Balaji soap opera (hilarious) and the reason behind this surround sound is to be born in a hill station (extremely funny) David Dhawan pulls it off so well that those episodes become beguiling for the viewer when they come out from the theater.

All those who have grown up with David Dhawan movies will find themselves in the same premise one hero, two heroines, uniformly strong supporting players, a mansion but its 2014 so you will find girls in bikinis and some lip kisses coming in..

MTH will do to Varun Dhawan what David Dhawan films did for Govinda - it will make him the popular mass hero. Varun is an entertainer and a director's actor he gives full justice to the trick by keeping the audience engaged rather than frustrated by his Govinda meets Jackson meets Salman in his own method for a happy viewing. An out an out crowd pleasing act.

Support cast gives tremendous support. Anupam Kher is brilliant. Saurab Shukla is hilarious. Arunoday Singh makes huge impact. Rajpal Yadav is good. Manoj Pahwa is fine. Evelyn Sharma is charming.

Among the leading ladies Ileana is cute and loveable. Nargis is gorgeous. Shot well with top production values the music gives more energy to the fun. `Palat' and `Needh Nahi Aaati' are already topping the charts.

What Not

Haters of bollywood mainstream masala, buffoonery and David Dhawan school of cinema will find it sad, sickening, relying on too much escapism labeling it as undemanding and unsophisticated cinema aimed to collect good quick bucks and taking audience for granted. The idea of B-town repeatedly remaking Tamil /Telugu movies and the dearth in B-town originality will again be questioned.

Conclusion: Main Tera Hero has all the typicality of good David Dhawan entertainer which proudly introduces the new hero of the masses Varun Dhawan who has the potential to make his audience `palat' to the theaters nearby and making them say.. hero idhaar hai..
