There have been reports doing the rounds that filmmaker Amal Neerad will be directing Mammootty for an upcoming biopic on 'Kunjali Marikkar'. However, the filmmaker recently denied the reports. Now cinematographer Santhosh Sivan, who will be reportedly directing the movie, has confirmed that the project is very much on.

"Yes, we are doing the project. But, not anytime soon as it is still in the discussion stage. The movie needs a quite a lot of effort and the dates have to be finalized. Right now, it is too early to talk about the project as I am busy with several another project," said Santhosh Sivan in a recent interview to a popular newspaper.

Kunjalimarickar will have Mammootty in the lead and is said to be scripted by Sankar Ramakrishnan. Touted to be produced by August Cinemas on a whopping budget of rupees 25 crore the project is likely to go on the floors by 2018.
