It was recently revealed that director Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan will resume shooting in the month of October, when veteran actor Nizhalgal Ravi announced in an interview that he's playing Chinna Pazhuvettarayar in the magnum opus.

The latest buzz is that director Balaji Sakthivel known for directing acclaimed movies like Kaadhal, Kalloori and Vazhakku En 18/8 has been roped in to play an important role in the movie which is based on the Tamil novel Ponniyin Selvan by Kalki Krishnamoorthy.

The film has a huge star cast including Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Jayam Ravi and Karthi besides Sarathkumar, Ashwin Kakumanu, Mohan Raman, Vijayakumar, Riyaz Khan and Jayaram in pivotal supporting roles.
