Mr. Majnu has changed me as an actor: Nidhhi Agerwal

Nidhhi Agerwal says that she has been flooded with compliments ever since 'Mr. Majnu' released.  In this interview, the actress talks about the movie, her role in it, looking forward to team up with Puri Jagannadh and Ram Pothineni and more.

'Mr. Majnu' most satisfying experience

The entire team is very happy.  I think the kind of compliments I have gotten for this film has been very satisfying.  The interval scene was very difficult to pull off.  The climax was another tough one.  I am glad these scenes have gotten the best accolades.  Venky's dialogues have done the magic.  Lots of people have told me they cried while watching the movie  My mother is one of them.

Dialogues have been easy

Surprisingly, dialogues haven't been a problem for me.  Even in 'Savyasachi', it was easy.  'Mr. Majnu' had so many dialogues which ran into pages.  I have a photographic memory.  If you change my dialogue paper, I can't remember the dialogue I learned.  It has to be the same page.

Comparing the young Akkinenis

Chaitanya and Akhil are very contrasting personalities.  Akhil is fire, Chaitanya is water.  They both are well-mannered.  I like both of them.  I like Nag sir too.  They are all gentlemen, very caring and nice individuals.

In a strong position

When you are new, the film chooses you more than you choosing it.  After 'Mr. Majnu', I can now choose to do movies that have a strong character. Puri Jagannadh sir's 'iSmart Shankar' has a strong role for me.  I have to get to know the new girl that I will be playing in my next film.

Waiting for Sri Rama

I would really want a boy like Rama (as my character in 'Mr. Majnu').  I haven't found one in real life.  I hope I find him.  I am a simple person.  People think of me in a certain way when they look at my Instagram.

Dancing is my strength

I have learned Kathak, Hip Hop.  My first film in Kannada had a lot to do with dances.  In 'Savyasachi', I was given certain steps for 'Ninnu Road Meeda Choosinattu'.  I would love to do a dance-based movie.  Dancing is my strength.  I am liking the girl-next-door vibe as well after doing 'Mr. Majnu'.

Hyderabad is like my home

Hyderabad is my birthplace.  I have a strong connect with the city.  I have hundreds of relatives here. My mom speaks Telugu. I like the idlis here.  During the shoot in the city, I would regularly have idlis and butter.  I feel more at home here.  It's more homely than Mumbai.

Let me try everything

I want to do even Hollywood.  I want to do everything.  I am young, have so much of time left.  Nowadays I have started watching Telugu movies.

'iSmart Shankar' will be whacky

'Pokiri' was a cult film.  Puri sir is such a big director.  'iSmart Shankar' is a whacky film.  It's too early to speak about the role.  It's a very interesting role that I am playing in it.  I will start shooting for it sometime in February.

Learning while doing movies

I never had a method before.  I am not a trained actor.  I have learned a lot on the job.  The best training that you can get is on sets.  I now know what works for me, what doesn't.  In the first week of shooting with Venky Atluri, he pointed out my mistakes.  Those lessons made a huge difference to my acting.

Taking criticism

If criticism is coming from a good place, I accept it.  I don't really take it to heart.  If it's coming from a noisy place, I just ignore.  With 'Mr. Majnu', 95 percent of the reviews were positive.

Loved 'Arjun Reddy'

I wish I had done Arjun Reddy's role in 'Arjun Reddy'.  I think that's the first Telugu film I saw.  Chaitanya recommended it to me.  I watched it four times.  If I like something, I get obsessed with it.

Tollywood dreams

I have some dream directors, such as Rajamouli, Trivikram.  I want to work with Venky once again.  I would love to work with Akhil once again.  So many girls are loving his looks.  Many have told me that my hero is so nice.

Bettering myself every day

As a person, I want to better myself every day.  On some days, I put in a lot of hours to get better, in the gym, in a class, etc. I have evolved with every film.  After 'Mr. Majnu', I feel I can call myself an actor.  My perception of myself changed after the film's trailer released.  I am OK about playing glamorous roles.
