`Naanayam' audio has raised a lot of curiosity among music-lovers as it has music scored by James Vasanthan. The man caught the admiration of many with "Kangal Irandaal..." in `Subramaniapuram' followed by an audio hit in `Pasanga'.

A thriller featuring Prasanna and Sibiraj in the lead role, the movie has half-a-dozen tracks quite different from each other. Interestingly, veterans S P Balasubramaniam, Chitra has rendered their voice besides youngsters Silambarasan and Devi Sri Prasad chipping in with their best. A team of other young singers have also crooned.

1. Naanayam

Singer: Ranjith

A perfect beginning. It is a real blast. Begins with style and proceeds at rapid pace. Penned by Dr Krudhaya, the song has racy music coupled with peppy beats. Loud but lovable song. Ranjith rocks.

2. Naan Pogiren

Singer: S P Balasubramaniam and Chitra

A soft song typical of James Vasanthan in his earlier films. Flute dominates the song giving one a feel of listening to a Illayaraja number. The duo of S P B and Chitra is lovely to hear anytime and any moment. They leave their stamp in this song too. Impressive in their improvisation and their diction, both singers give grace to the song. The interlude has good use of violins and flute that is appealing.

3. Aasa Aasa

Singer: Kannan, Megha, Ramya, Sheba

Penned and tuned by James Vasanthan, the song is brisk and jazzy. A groovy song, the highlight of the number is the lovely and simple lyrics going hand in hand with tune. A mix of pop and rap, the song has funny lines too. The young brigade has sung it with style.

4. Ka Ka Ka

Singer: Devi Sri Prasad and Silambarasan

What if two youths known for their amazing energy levels come together to croon a number? It's joy unlimited. Catchy music, peppy beats and good orchestration are the hallmarks of the number. Penned by Kavivarman, the song speaks about the lure and need for money. Brisk and bravado is this number. Silambarasan and Devi Sri Prasad sing in contrasting styles but enjoyable.

5. Kooda Kooda

Singer: Sunitha Sarathy

It is a sensuous number rendered by Sunitha Sarathy. Casual pace at which the song begins proceeds in the same vein. A perfect song for pubs and dance floors, the song carrying Yugabharathi's lyrics might lure youngsters. James Vasanthan seems to get the pulse of youngsters well.

6. Naanayam (Remix)

The remix by Ranjith quite typical to the earlier version. It has racy beats and is entertaining.

On the whole, the album has brought the other side of James Vasanthan. The man who stole our heart with soft melodies in his earlier movies has proved that Western music too is no alien to him.
