Lady Superstar Nayanthara had last appeared in the Siva Karthikeyan starrer Mr Local which was a commercial failure, and Airaa which had the actress playing the lead also failed at box office. Her next release was supposed to be the thriller Kolaiyuthir Kaalam.

Directed by Chakri Toleti, Kolaiyuthir Kaalam had been facing issues right from the beginning as there was a controversial speech by Radharavi, followed by the stay imposed on a copyrights case, and multiple postponements. The movie was announced to release on July 26 earlier.

However the release date was pushed again to August 1 and then August 2, but it has been observed that the movie has not been released as announced, and as per sources, the Nayanthara starrer faces further release delay. Kolaiyuthir Kaalam also stars Bhumika, Prathap Pothen.
