The 80-year-old owner of a small eatery in Delhi's Malviya Nagar saw overwhelming support from people across the national capital today after a video of the tearful old man talking about how he had no customers went viral last night.

The heartbreaking video re-shared by a Twitter user, originally posted by a food blogger on a number of social media platforms, garnered over 3 million views in less than 12 hours. The stall's owner, 80-year-old Kanta Prasad, sells a variety of curries to go with rice/roti, and manages the stall 'Baba ka Dhaba' along with his wife. The couple mentioned in the video that they barely earn Rs. 80 per day despite waking up early in the morning and preparing a ton of food. Life has apparently been extremely difficult for the two of them ever since the lockdown as they have been struggling to make ends meet during the pandemic. Soon after the video was shared, Twitter saw #BabaKaDhaba and #Malviya Nagar trending across India. Much to the delight of the elderly owner and his wife, their food stall was visited by hundreds of people today and the 80-year-old is overwhelmed by all the support. "There was no sale during the lockdown but now it feels like whole India is with us," Prasad informed a news agency a while ago.

The couple also mentioned that they have been running the eatery since 1988. Actress Sonam Kapoor, cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin, IPL team Delhi Capitals, food delivery app Zomato, a number of other celebrities and media channels contributed in providing for the owner as well.
