Non-bailable arrest warrant issued against director Shankar

A nonbailable arrest warrant has been issued against legendary director Shankar by the Metropolitan Magistrate Court-II, Egmore. This is due to his and his advocate failing to appear in the hearings for the decade long case involving 'Enthiran' movie.

Director Shankar's mega-budget sci-fi film 'Enthiran' starring Superstar Rajinikanth and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was released in the year 2010 and became one of the biggest grossing films in Indian cinema. Arur Tamilnadan a short story writer alleging that the plot of the film was copied from his short story Jiguba published in the year 1996.

While the case has been going on for over a decade last year the Supreme Court dismissed a petition from Shankar seeking the quashing of the story theft case. Following the arrest warrant, the judge adjourned the case to February 19th and has ordered that the proceedings will continue.
