Earlier today, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal stated that the Army should be called in to restrain the violent mob attack happening in the national capital after the police failed to control the situation.

The death toll has risen to 23 at the protest sites in north east Delhi, with at least 189 people severely injured. Arvind Kejriwal has written to Home Minister Amit Shah regarding the same. "I have been in touch wid large no of people whole nite. Situation alarming. Police, despite all its efforts, unable to control situation and instil confidence Army shud be called in and curfew imposed in rest of affected areas immediately Am writing to Hon'ble HM to this effect," his statement read.

Earlier today, the Delhi police had dispersed a crowd gathered outside Kejriwal's residence, after they assembled there late last night, demanding action against perpetrators of the violence in Delhi. Students from JNU, members of the Alumni Association of Jamia Millia Islamia (AAJMI) and Jamia Coordination Committee (JCC) were part of the group, according to a report by a news agency.
