Boney Kapoor, the producer of Ajith's upcoming film Valimai, took to his official social media handle to announce the postponement of the first look release of the film to a later date amid the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The first look of Valimai was originally scheduled to be released on May 1, coinciding with Ajith's birthday, but the team has decided to move the release of the poster to a later date owing to the current dark and dreary situation due to the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic. A portion of Boney Kapoor's statement on Twitter read, "At the time of making the announcement (of the first look release), none of us had even anticipated that the 2nd wave of coronavirus would spread across India like a tsunami. At this moment, lakhs of Indians are affected by financial hardship and emotional trauma due to loss of family members and friends."

Requesting to pray for everyone's well-being and safety, the statement further read, "At this critical juncture, Zee Studios and Bayview Projects along with the Artists' and Technicians of our film "Valimai" have decided to postpone the first look release of our film to a later date." Directed by H Vinoth, Valimai also stars Huma Qureshi, Karthikeya, and Yogi Babu in pivotal roles. The cinematography is handled by Nirav Shah, while the music is composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
