Director Azhagam Perumal joins the long list of directors taking to acting.
A one-time associate of Manirathnam, he had directed movies like Jhoot and Dum Dum Dum.
He is now playing the villain in Puthupet directed by Selvaraghavan.
The movie features Dhanush, Sneha and Sonia Agarwal.
Initially, director Kasthoori Raja was tipped to play the negative role in the film.
However he has gone on to direct the movie Kadhal Seiyum Paruvam featuring Kiran.
Pudhupettai is a movie about gangsters in Chennai and a few scenes involving Azhagam Perumal and Dhanush were shot in Nungambakkam recently.
The movie being produced by Lakshmi Movie Makers has musical score by Yuvan Shankar Raja.
