Ouseppachan delivers another best
Saturday, August 4, 2007 • Malayalam Comments

Ouseppachan has been long associated with quality music from his debut in the Bharathan film Kaathodu Kaathoram in the late eighties. He was the front runner who churned out continuous hits. But in his second arrival saw him creating some of plagiarized music to please the demands of the new generation.

Even amidst his commercial pressures, he often created some valuable melodies which sustained for long. Shyamaprasad's latest Mammootty starrer Ore Kadal is one such movie, which really carry some of the immortal numbers, which has some of the best lyrics by Gireesh Puthencherry. All the songs in 'Ore Kendal' composed by music director Ouseppachan are set to raga Subha Panthuvarali.

The songs are really encode to the film, directed graciously by award winning director Shyamaprasad

1. Manassinte  Singer G Venugopal

This is slow melody, rendered in a different tone by G Venugopal. The violin interludes add to the mood of the song. The soft and sleek orchestration is the high point of the song, which makes you reach the replay button more than once.

2. Yamuna  Singer Shwetha

This is another feel good song of the album. The maturity of the voice of Shwetha is the highlight of the song which helps her to deliver the feel that the music director demands from her. The song is sure to win her accolades, awards and will be one of her best. The song is repeated in the voice of Ouseppachan. There is a certain similarity to the earthy manner in which the songs have been composed which results in a consistent flow for the album.

3.  Nagaram  Singer Vineeth Sreenivasan

The soundtrack takes off on a soulful and free spirited note with this one, which is the lyrically best of the album, even though Gireesh has placed extremely good words for the entire songs. The song is more a philosophical journey, and one which displays the capabilities of the singer, not yet exploited.

4. Pranyasandhya  Singer Bombay Jayashree

"The best song I have sung in recent times, this is a poignant melody. It haunted me for days. I even cancelled some of my engagements while recording to remain immersed in the mood of the raga", this was said by the talented singer, who had been in Malayalam a couple of times before Wistfulness is the hallmark of this song.

"It portrays hope against despair - where one is mournfully expectant of a crucial situation. Rendering this was a beautiful experience", says Jayashree. All that is said is more than a review for this song.

 5. Oru kadalai Singer Naveen Nair

Giving a feel of a title song, the rendering is in too different tone by Naveen Nair.

The music director in all the songs have utilized the best of the singers, associated with them, creating refined and free flowing music.   It would be irreverent to even try finding gaps in the compositions or analyzing it as a desperate critic.

Instead, what makes sense is to simply enjoy the beauty of the tracks and talk about the overall 'experience' as it  gives you  something that you have rarely witnessed in a couple of years.

With such a refreshing and uncompromising music, let's just hope the movie is as promising as its music looks.

Hats off, Ouseppachan and Gireesh Puthencherry and the team of Ore Kadal
