'Padmaavat' joins the elite 200 crore club !

Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmaavat' released last week amidst numerous obstacles. The film which stars Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles has become a major hit with its box office earnings reportedly crossing 100 crore mark in India and 200 crore worldwide.

The film earned Rs.2.16 crore in Chennai, Rs.3.81 crore in Chengalpattu, and Rs.1.65 crore in Coimbatore regions. Adding the profits from rest of TN, 'Padmaavat' has raked in Rs.9 crore from the state alone.

Considering the profits from the northern parts of the country and the rest of the world, the profits for this epic drama stand around Rs.230 crores to Rs.240 crores.
