Parthiban dares to be different in every film.

The ace actor-director of Tamil cinema is currently acting in Ammuvagiya Naan, with an unusual theme directed by Padmamagan, in which Parthiban plays a writer who marries a prostitute.

An associate of Bhagyaraj, he says, “My mentor is such a person who is receptive to ideas from juniors and executes them in the movie without hesitation. When I became a director, I followed his style of encouraging deserving youngsters.”

On the success of Parthiban - Vadivelu combo in films like Bharathi Kannamma and Vetri Kodi Kattu, he says, “We never planned to do films together. It just so happened that our combination went down very well. Moreover, our style of comedy was very realistic and we used to pick up instances from daily life. Vadivelu has keen observation and can make humour out of nothing. He played an immense role in the success,” he says.

On working in movies by other directors, he says, “I don't interfere much in their work, but never hesitate to give my suggestions when they are needed most.”

Parthiban says that he is very careful in choosing his upcoming films.

“I am planning to do action films this year and have signed up for a movie to be made by a commercially successful director,” he says.
