Pati, Patni Aur Woh With A Twist!

Review by IndiaGlitz [ Monday, June 15, 2020 ]

It is hard to imagine an Indian web-series talking about a taboo relationship on a popular platform. First kudos needs to be given to Aha OTT platform for daring to accept such story and for NorthStar Entertainments for producing it.

Naveen Medaram, the creator of the show and director, while took the right points, did not make an affective piece with available substances. He did try hard to push the envelope and be sensitive, but his writing at places, execution at few other places had some issues that did not let Sin, be a captive piece of imagination.

As web-series are all about being able to a story without holding back anything, the characters created for this particular series had few gaping holes that should have been worked out before the making. Quality of the product doesn't look cheap and the characters had more potential than explored.

When it comes to feeling for a character or getting attached to the story, that is where Naveen can work slightly more. His take on a seemingly regular plot with a different twist is initially interesting but he could not add layers after the initial text to keep audiences hooked after 3rd episode.

He tried to include too many things into a setting in the hope of creating many more episodes for the series and that would have really helped him, had he given time for characters to grow. His narrative style seemed hurrying up like in a thriller than a drama. Drama pacing is different from a thriller, and if he understands that difference better, he might give us a riveting second season of the same story.

As far as performances go Deepti Sati is better than Jennifer Piccinato. Thiruveer needed more character moments to really shine and he seems to be an actor, who depends on the director more than the script. His performance doesn't really hold your attention as much as the director depended on him while imagining the script, one can feel so.

Rest all characters do the same things that we expect than growing on us as characters, so let's reserve our judgement for later seasons on them. As far as our recommendation goes, you can easily watch this Sin once, but keep your expectations in check.
