Police have arrested a woman in Trichy for staging a kidnap drama and demanding money of more than 20 lakhs from a Tiffin center owner. Earlier, the shop owner had faced threats from unknown people over phone saying that they had kidnapped a woman, and asked him 20 lakhs to release her, but it has been found that it was staged.

Mayilvaganan(57) runs a tiffin center in Trichy, and had employed a woman in his tiffin center for more than 3 years. Recently he had sold a house he had owned, and had kept the money safely. Getting to know this, the woman had called Mayilvaganan saying that she had been kidnapped and that the kidnappers demand 20 lakhs to release her.

Following this, Mayilvaganan filed a police complaint and later received a call from the woman and she said that she had jumped from a car and escaped from the kidnappers when they were taking her in a car, and the cops went to rescue the woman. However after people in the locality informed that she did not jump from any car, and after finding no signs of a kidnap, further investigation was done, when the woman revealed that she had staged a kidnap drama to get the money Mayilvaganan had.
