After delivering the super hit Ok Kanmani` , master filmmaker Maniratnam is gearing up to start his next with Karthi in the lead role who incidentally was his AD in some films. There has been great curiosity over who would be the leading lady of this exciting film which may have the title 'Vellai Pookal'

The latest we hear is that Mani has screen tested the latest Malayalam sensation Sai Pallavi of Premam` fame, who has become a rage in Tamilnadu also following the 250 day run of the film in Chennai and other cities. Sai Pallavi actually hails from Kotagiri in the Nilgiris and this would be a sweet homecoming for the charismatic girl if Maniratnam selects her.
