It was about a week ago producer Supriya Menon, wife of actor Prithviraj, lost her father Vijay Kumar Menon who was battling cancer. On Sunday, Supriya took to her Instagram handle to pen a heartfelt note on her late father. Sharing a few pictures with her father, Supriya spoke in length about how doting her father was and the emotional trauma the entire family underwent while he was diagnosed with cancer.

Supriya's Instagram post reads as follows:

"I lost a big piece of my heart last Sunday(14th Nov). My daddy (Vijay Kumar Menon) passed away after battling cancer for a little over 13 months. My dad was my everything! He was the wind beneath my wings and the air that I breathed. Even though I am an only child he never let his protective nature get in the way of my dreams whether it was the choices I made in school and college, or the career and city I chose to live in or even the man I chose to marry. He was always supportive and didn’t impose his will and was always in the shadows to help should I falter or fail. He was just there. All the things that I am credited for today like my integrity, my ability to straight talk, my honesty, my strength I inherit from him. And then after having taught me to be my own person, he did the same thing for my daughter Ally. Daddy doted on her right from the day she was born. He was her constant companion along with my mom. He took her down for long walks in her pram, taught her how to walk, took her down to play in the play areas, dropped and picked her up from school and music lessons and became her “Daddy” too. His world revolved around his “Aalie”!

These past 13 months have been the toughest in my life since we discovered my dad’s cancer. On one hand I had to pretend everything was okay in front of most people & smile while inwardly I was battling my own private grief anticipating the impending doom knowing the advanced stage of the disease. It’s true, cancer affects the whole family and here it was attacking our very nucleus.

I have spent the past year in and out of hospitals holding my dad’s hand as he held mine thru life. The path was made somewhat bearable by my close friends and family. Uncles and aunts rallied around. Some friends called and checked daily. Some offered to come with me to the hospital."
