The shocking sexual harassment by a senior teacher Rajagopalan at the Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan (PSBB) school in Chennai has devastated people on top of the strifes of the coronavirus pandemic. The commerce teacher not only allegedly dressed half-naked when conducting online classes but also sent lewd videos and pictures to his students who are all teenaged minors.

The Makkal Needhi Maiam leader Kamal Haasan in a statement posted on Twitter has urged the Tamil Nadu government to take severe action against the alleged perverts and to do so on a war footing as children of other schools too are raising complaints now. He has expressed disappointment that the PSBB management failed to take action when the issue was reported to them saying that it has greatly disrupted the trust that people had in educational institutions.

Kamal has added that the anxieties he felt as the father of two female children (Shruti and Akshara Haasan) prompted him to make the movie 'Mahanathi' 27 years back which dealt with child abuse. The thespian actor has also requested parents to be watchful of their children when they are engaged in the internet and online classes too. He asked them to give ear to whatever issues or problems they want to discuss to ensure their safety and to stand by them.

Kamal also pointed out that some are politicizing the issue by targeting a particular community which would only divert the focus on the burning issue and indirectly help the accused. He emphasized that whichever cast or community the wrongdoers belong to they should be punished severely and people should fight for justice as an intelligent society.

Kamal Haasan is a long time close friend of PSBB founder Rajalakshmi Parthasarathy's son Y.Gee Mahendra and his Makkal Needhi Maiam followers are praising his impartial voice in the sexual harassment issue.
