A ban was implemented on PlayerUnkown’s Battlegrounds Mobile last week by the government of Gujarat. Following the ban, over ten people in Rajkot and eight more from Ahmedabad were arrested after they were found playing the game.

PUBG is an online battle royale game that gained traction soon after its PC and Xbox One launch and became a sensation when the game was released on iOS and Android devices. PUBG is one of the most successful and highly addictive games, that is popular among young adults across the globe right now.

However, on the downside, the adverse effects of the game, one of which has been responsible for poor academic performance of the students, earlier caused Gujarat's primary education department to issue a circular after a recommendation by the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, which directed all the District Primary Education Officers to take all the necessary precautions to enforce a ban on the multiplayer battleground game in primary schools.

The PUBG company issued a statement following the ban claiming that they were ready to introduce a healthy gameplay system that will encourage responsible gaming among young adults and children.

“We were thus surprised to learn that local authorities in a few cities have decided to impose a ban on playing our game. We are working to understand the legal basis of such bans, and hope we can have a constructive dialogue with relevant authorities to explain our objectives and that they withdraw the prohibition,” the statement further read.

The company assured the players that they were on their side and that they would try their best to find a reasonable solution to the problem. The ban will reportedly continue till April 30, while the plan with regards to its ban in other states remains unknown.
