Why Rahul Gandhi hugged PM Narendra Modi in Parliament

The No-Confidence motion against the BJP led NDA government is underway in parliament today. This is the 27th incident in the history of India and the first one admitted after 2003 no-confidence motion brought by the congress against Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government.

During the morning session the opposition Congress leader Rahul Gandhi unleashed a scathing attack on the PM and the BJP bringing in demonitisation, GST, the Rafale deal and the widespread lynching of people who oppose them in the country. When he finished his speech Rahul did something that was utterly unexpected by anyone in the house. He walked towards the Prime Minister and hugged him.

Narendra Modi was a little taken aback but soon started smiling and shook Rahul's hands and the latter said to him "“You can abuse me, you can call me Pappu, but I don’t have a speck of hatred against you. I will take out this hatred out of you and turn it into love”
