Santosh Anand Ram in his second film has proved that he is a fine commercial thinker with some valuable contents that are entertaining and engaging with stuff for family audience. In his ‘Mr and Mrs Ramachari’ he worked with the shadow of Sahasa Simha Vishnuvardhana. In this ‘Rajakumara’ he has given a haunting cinema with icon Dr Rajakumar shades and principles in the screenplay. The point of ‘Yoga and Yogyathe’ (deserving Man and Ability) is the touching point of Dr Rajakumar makes a striking point via Prakash Rai character. It is ‘Yogyathe’ that the protagonist piled up in his life as a Good Samaritan in the film.
Power star Puneeth Rajakumar as main stay of the film is immaculate to the role and he reminds his father Dr Rajakumar in more than a dozen situations. At the outset what Sudeep had done to his brother in ‘Hebbuli’, power star Puneeth Rajakumar does it for his father in this ‘Rajakumara’ – clearing the black spot.
The first half is lavish and beautiful, second half is touches your heart and may lead to transformation for the minds watching the film. The Hombale Films giving everything to the film has showed that the luxury in making is on par with any Indian film. The technical knowhow of this director and 148 minutes ‘Rajakumara’ is wholesome entertainer. Yet the formula of commercial cinema deployed remains the same.
The mixing of family values, humanity, the society issues are very well loaded in a commercial cinema of five songs and five actions. Santosh Anand Ram never leaves the attention to drop in the film. In addition to it some of the top stars in the film acting give a wonderful feel for the film.
While Power star Puneeth Rajakumar sole intention is to bring good name to his father Ashok (Sarath Kumar) a business tycoon clearing black spots, the house of ‘Kasthuri Nivasa’ that was orphanage transformed to old age home in two decades gathers special attention.
God has given everything and taken everything – the dialogue of protagonist Siddarth alias Appu (Puneeth Rajakumar) is a philosophical point. But the God still giving affluence for him to reach the poor and needy is what the director looked at for doing something good.
After Siddarth loses all his family members in an air crash, he comes to the place where he was picked - orphanage home run by Krishna (Achyuthkumar). When Appu was adolescent he was adapted by Ashok a business tycoon. The home for children is now home for aged ‘Kasthuri Nivasa’.
The twin motto of Appu is to clear the black spot that has come to his father Ashok and then given a lively life to the inmates of old age home. Of course in the process he has to take tough challenges. He is successful in his both mission.
Power star Puneeth Rajakumar rocks in every scene he appears with grace and grandeur. The dance, action, dialogue delivery, emotions and liveliness he proves again that he is the son of Dr Rajakumara in ‘Rajakumara’.
Priya Anand looks pretty and she is lost in the second half. Avinash, Achyuth Kumar,Tamil star Sarath Kumar (dubbed Kannada in his voice), Dattanna, Ananthnag, Prakash Rai, Sridhar, Bhargavi Narayan are extremely good. Chikkanna, Sadhu Kokila and Rangayana Raghu looks after the comedy tracks with ease.
The 148 minutes ‘Rajakumara’ is glorious in cinematography and melodious in music. Venkatesh Anguraj gives a pleasant view of Australia. One particular shot of showing the portrait of Lord Raghavendra Swamy with Puneeth Rajakumar strikes the mind.
Gombe Aduthaithe…..is the crux of this film sung by Vijayaprakash is having right placement in the film. Appa James Bond, Maga Anna Bond…..and Yakingide….sung by Puneeth Rajakumar showcase the dancing ability of power star.
Dialogues of this film are well measured and special mention to make up for Puneeth Rajakumar is quite different from other films.
This is a good family watch; the youths think on their mistakes, the oldies get relief, fans of Puneeth Rajakumar thoroughly enjoy.
