Rajasthan Practically Under Fire, Records Sky High Temperatures

The summer has begun and the heat has been announcing itself more than ever across the country. The latest to make the news is Rajasthan. A few days ago, Churu witnessed temperatures of 50.8°C, which is 9°C more than normal. In addition, other regions in the state were not spared. Ganganagar recorded a temperature of 49°C while Bikaner faced a maximum of 47.9°C.

Jaisalmer and Kota were also victims to the heat with temperatures of 47.2°C and 46°C respectively. The capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur also reeled under the heat recording day temperatures of 45.2°C. There were heat waves reported in parts of the state.

It’s not just the heat, the climate itself has taken a major blow across the world. As Chennai continues to struggle with the water crisis with some respite due to the rain, on the other side of the globe, 45.9°C has been recorded in France. This has apparently broken the previous high of 44.1°C in 2003. The environment seems to be warning us every day, how are we going to respond?
