It has been officially confirmed that Superstar Rajinikanth's much anticipated, mega budget film '2.0' will be hitting the screens in the month of April 2018. The film was earlier scheduled for a theatrical release on January 25, 2017. 

The film marks the Tamil debut of Bollywood star Akshay Kumar who plays the lead antagonist in the film. With the announcement that Akki's 'Padman' will be releasing on January 26, 2018 it was widely speculated that '2.0' will be postponed as it is not possible to release two films of a big star like Akshay on the same weekend. 

Now the official press release from Lyca Productions, which has produced the film on a grand budget of around Rs.400 crores, confirms that the theatrical release of '2.0' will happen in April 2018. The date is yet to be finalized. 

'2.0' the sequel to the 2010 blockbuster 'Enthiran' is being directed by Shankar and the film has been made with 3D technology.
