When Shankar and Rajinikanth combined for the first time in Sivaji` they got formal permission from the Nadigar Thilagam Sivaji Ganesan family for using the name which they readily agreed.

Similarly producer N.Lingusamy called up Rajinikanth, asking for an appointment to explain the story of Rajini Murugan` and get his permission. But Rajinikanth cut him short and told him to just go ahead with it as he had complete trust in the production that they will not misuse his name. Both Lingusamy and Sivakarthikeyan praised Rajini`s magnanimity during the audio launch of Rajini Murugan`.
