Rajkummar Rao reveals an unknown detail about his Gangs Of Wasseypur character

Anurag Kashyap's 2012 crime drama 'Gangs Of Wasseypur' is definitely one of the most important Hindi movies of last decade. It starred several talented and underrated actors and featured a new and realistic style of storytelling which was later adopted in several movies and web shows. Actor Rajkummar Rao also had a short yet significant role in the film. He played an up and coming gangster who tries to go against the main character played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui.

In a recent media interaction, Rajkummar Rao has revealed that initially his role was supposed to be way meatier than it was. During a conversation with comedian Zakir Khan, the actor revealed that the original script had Shamshad Alam as the main antagonist of part two.

Rao stated, “After watching LSD (Love Se Aur Dhokha), Anurag sir called me and said I am making a film and come and meet me. So when I met him, there was just a story, rather a structure of a story. And at that time, the film he narrated was Faisal Khan (Nawazuddin) vs Shamshad Alam (Rajkummar). Nawaz and I went to Wasseypur and I had a small tape recorder, which I used to record people there.”

He continued, “After writing finished 3-4 months later. Anurag sir met me again and told me that my role had become much shorter. But I said no worries sir. He asked me would you still do it and I said of course. I am getting a chance to work with you. And I am glad I did actually."
