The costliest film in Indian cinema so far is Superstar Rajinikanth's '2.0' directed by Shankar which carried a budget upwards of rupees 550 Crores. A few months back a movie 'Randamoozham' with a staggering 1000 Crores budget was announced.

'Randamoozham' written by M.T. Vasudevan Nair and directed by Srikumar Menon is a retelling of the 'Mahabharata' from the point of view of Bheema starring Mohan Lal as the leading man with big stars from all over India as costars. Before filming could begin creative differences cropped up between the writer and director and producer B.R. Shetty based in the UAE gave them all the time he could to arrive at a resolution.

Since the duo did not come to a compromise Shetty made the official announcement that 'Randamoozham' is shelved and that he is open to start another film with the 'Mahabharata' as the backdrop soon.
