RGV gets emotional, explains 'Officer'

Speaking at the pre-release event of 'Officer', Ram Gopal Varma was almost emotional. I have never done any good deed. I have never prayed to God. I have never respected elders. Despite all this, I have been blessed to meet a good person. It's Nagarjuna. I don't know if it's because of the good deeds I did in my last life. If I speak 2-3 sentences more, I will have tears in my eyes. And it will spoil my reputation, RGV said in his own style.

No matter how well a director visualizes, it's the performers who alone can make the work of all departments effective. I thank Nagarjuna for his consistent performance in 'Officer'. Through his each and every expression, he brought the imagination in me to reality in flesh and blood, RGV said.

I have reinvented myself as a person and as a director by making this film. And all credit goes to Nagarjuna, Ramu added.

When I narrated the script to Nag, he said that he had never done a heroism-oriented film in his career after 'Shiva'. It had never occurred to me and I was shocked upon hearing it from him. A hero has to have a belief system and should take on the villains without fear. In 'Shiva', a college student was forced by circumstances to take up the cudgels. In 'Officer', it's an experienced officer who does it, RGV noted.

I have made heroes out of street rowdies, gangsters and factionists in my films. In 'Officer', I have criminalized a cop! he quipped.
