I have always admired Anushka Sharma. - Richa Chadha on becoming a producer

In last few years, several Bollywood actresses have ventured into production business in order to be able to back scripts and projects of their choice. Following the footsteps of Taapsee Pannu, Anushka Sharma and Alia Bhatt among others, actresss Richa Chadha has also launched her production house Push Buttons Studio and she is currently working on her maiden project 'Girls Will Be Girls'.

In a recent conversation with IANS, Richa talked about this new career move and revealed the rationale behind it. She stated, "There was a need for certain kinds of movies and I wanted to make them. I would often sit with a number of people from the industry and discuss the excitement and passion of various ideas. Production was always there at the back of my mind, but I never could actively pursue it.”

She further added, "So maybe it wasn’t a eureka moment for me but it helped me to be more confident about what was already building up with Pushing Buttons. Having the sense of not enough good roles around that were being pitched to female leads, I felt the willingness to do much more with the opportunity available."

Richa also revealed that she was mighty impressed by Anushka Sharma's work as a producer. She stated, "I have always admired Anushka Sharma for trying to do the same with her studio. I personally loved NH 10 and always wanted to make a thriller along those lines as well. Perhaps I should think of making something in that genre under Pushing Buttons soon.”
