Amidst the Corona crisis, the most sensational issue at the moment in Tamil Nadu is the death of two traders Jayaraj (58) and Bennix (31) in Sathankulam after police violence was inflicted on them. They were arrested by the police on June 19 for keeping their shop open for an additional half hour during lockdown.

Two days later the police remanded them at the Kovilpatti sub-jail and on June 22, Bennix complained of chest pain. He was taken to the government hospital where he passed away and Jayarajan also passed away at 4.30 am on Tuesday. Their family have alleged that the father and son were brutally assaulted by the police while in custody which lead to their deaths and that their deaths wasn't due to health issues.

Following this inhuman activity, social media has been filled with anger against the police department and now celebrities from Kollywood have voiced out against this injustice. Actor Jayam Ravi was the first actor from the industry to tweet against this, and was followed by many celebrities like Karthik Subbaraj, Suchitra, Shanthanu, Bala Saravavan and Gautam Karthik who have tweeted strong messages with the hashtag #JusticeForJeyarajAndFennix condemning the injustice.
