Director Selva remade K. Balachander's 1974 classic 'Naan Avan Illai' a few years ago. The film produced by Nemichand Jhabak did very well at the box office. The film starred Jeevan with tinges of negativity and was accompanied by five leading ladies – Sneha, Namitha, Jyothirmayi, Keerthi Chawla and Malavika.

In a bid to recreate the success formula, the producer has urged director Selva to come up with a sequel soon. This move is one of a kind. A sequel for a remake is something new. The sequel would star Jeevan, but this time around he would have the company of a new set of five damsels. It is also reported that the film would be shot abroad in its entirety and is expected to have a trendy and slick appeal throughout. (The first part ended in a foreign locale. So the director has the license to continue shooting abroad).

In the music department Vijay Anthony has been replaced by Imman. Interestingly it was Imman who scored the background score for the first part.

Selva who is currently giving final touches to the Madhavan starrer 'Guru En Aalu' is expected to start work on the sequel soon.

'Search for the heroines is currently on and the film would be a complete action thriller' said producer Jabak. 'Incidentally there would be no court scenes in the film' he added.

It is interesting to note that almost all of Jeevan's films that showcased him with villainous intent have been tremendous successes. Keeping that in mind, a sequel to 'Naan Avan Illai' would not be a bad idea.
