Whenever the newcomer comes on the screen he is closely watched for many reasons. This youngster Deepak with lot of energy and capacity to deliver goods ala the height of Sudeep and Darshan is sure to reach the heights. In some places he reminds late Shanker Nag. The story of this film is similar to 'Gunna' Kannada film that bombed in the box office when it was released last year.

Sishya is about 'Guru Bhakthi'. The ardent follower of his mentor Vaasa never loses his temper working for the underworld deals of his mentor. He earns a good name in the underworld. He reaches the pinnacle and he beats his mentor in his popularity (Guruvina minchi Sishyudu). Yet Vaasa is not ready to dislodge the loyalty to his mentor. The acid test for Guru and Sishya crops up when Vaasa is admired by his Guru's daughter Vasundhara. Vaasa is ready to sacrifice all his good for his Guru. When Vaasa misses a deal out of humanitarian grounds his Guru in association with a criminal lawyer changes his equations. The mistaken Guru joins the opponent Masthi gang to evaporate his own Sishya.

Vaasa comes to know about this master plan of his mentor when one of his closets is gunned down. Vaasa suspect his Guru who is in association with wrong company. Even at this stage he does not oppose his Guru but gun down his company Masthi. Such a dastardly killing by Vaasa brings nervousness in everyone. In comes Masthi's brother - the bony don who makes delicate sketch to get rid of Vaasa and his mentor.

Now the gang war balloons up. The sharp edged weapons do the action in the hands of Vaasa. In the climax when the opponents are put down Vaasa once again says he is ready to give his breath for his mentor and walks out.

This is tailormade for action hero. Deepak suits immaculately and he shows lots of promises. Chytra Hallikere gets good chance atlast in five years of her career. Rangayana Raghu as mentor is a strong contender for villain award from this film. Violence in the film could have been cut down.

Photography and music has supported well for the over all result of the film. Three songs are foot tapping.

This is a well made action film.
