Mani Rathnam's Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, which starred Simbu as one of the male leads, was received well among the audience and did well at the box office too. He just finished shooting for his latest movie, Vanthaa Rajavathan Varuven, directed by Sundar C. The movie is expected to hit the screens in January.

An announcement was made a few months ago that Simbu’s next venture is going to be titled “Maanadu,” and will be directed by Venkat Prabhu.

Recent news is that the shooting of the movie is expected to begin on February 3, which happens to be Simbu’s birthday. Produced by Suresh Kamatchi, the movie is supposedly of a political base.
