Just prior to the coronavirus lockdown Simbu started shooting for his long-delayed project 'Maanaadu' directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Suresh Kamachi. The film that has music by Yuvan Shankar Raja has the ensemble cast of Simbu, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Bharathiraja, SAC, S.J. Suryah, Karunakaran and Premgi Amaran.

Simbu had earlier committed for another film the Tamil remake of the Kannada super hit 'Mufti' that costarred Gautham Karthik. Produced by Studio Green K.E. Gnanavelraja the original director Narthan helmed the remake too and a few portions were canned. It is said that creative differences broke out between the producer and the hero and the project got shelved indefinitely.

Director Narthan has now finished a script that he was working on for two years to feature 'KGF' Yash as the hero and is waiting for him to listen to the completed version. The helmer has shared to Sandalwood media that the story is written keeping Yash's pan Indian stardom in mind and will cater to his fans. The official announcement is expected as soon as 'KGF: Chapter 2' releases after the COVID 19 pandemic is brought under control.
