Young hero Simbu aka STR was last seen on screens in the ace director Maniratnam directorial mega multistarrer Chekka Chivantha vaanam, which saw the actor make a stunning comeback post the debacle of Anbanavan Asarathavan Adangathavan, playing the youngest of a gangster family,in a character named Ethi.

The movie went on to become a massive success, and the actor has since then been busy starring in his next, the Sundar.C directorial "Vandha Rajavathaan Varuven", eventually titled after a dialogue in CCV. While initially, the makers had planned to release Vandha Rajavathaan Varuven on Pongal, with the Petta Vs Viswasam clash, it is unlikely.

However, the latest buzz is that VRV might hit screens on February 1, as a birthday treat for Simbu's fans(the actor celebrates his birthday on February 3).The movie, which is the official remake of the 2013 Telugu blockbuster Attarintiki Daaredhi, also stars Megha Akash, Catherine Tresa, Ramya Krishnan,Prabhu and Nasser in pivotal roles.
