Is arithmetic proving difficult for teachers too? 500 plus teachers have been issued notices in Tamil Nadu due to an inaccurate evaluation of Class 12 state board examinations. One student who scored 81 marks was only given 57, and another was given 27 marks instead of 72. Around 25000 teachers corrected 60 lakh answer sheets across the state. Out of 50000 students who asked for copies of their answer sheets, 4500 have opted for re-evaluation.

It has been found that a majority of errors was in totalling the biology papers. A difference of up to 10 marks was seen in the papers of 30% of those who applied for re-evaluation. The district educational officers claim that the number of errors is reducing over the years. The number of answer papers that need to be corrected in one session has also been brought down from 15 to 12.
