Ever since the announcement on 'Kabali' there has been an insider story that Soundarya Rajinikanth Ashwin and her apparent friendship with director Pa. Ranjith played a vital role the latter getting the golden opportunity of calling shots for Superstar Rajinikanth. Now the 'Kochadiiyaan' director herself has confirmed the same in her interview to a leading English daily.

Soundarya has revealed that since the days of her maiden production venture 'Goa' she knows Ranjith who worked as an assistant director of Venkat Prabhu in that film. She was supposed to produce Ranjith's debut film 'Attakathi' which did not happen.

Rajinikanth had once mentioned to her that he loved Ranjith's second directorial, the critically acclaimed super hit 'Madras'. As it kept lingering in her mind, she once called up Ranjith and asked whether he could write a script for her father. Within a few days the vibrant director called her and said he has a Malaysian don storyline for Thalaivar. The storyline was narrated to Rajinikanth who instantly liked it and eventually confirmed him as the director of his next which is today the most anticipated flick 'Kabali'.

Starring Rajinikanth and Radhika Apte in lead roles and produced by Kalaipuli.S. Thanu, the film is getting ready to hit the screens in July.
