We had reported earlier that writer Suchitra Rao has plans to make a movie of her highly successful thriller novel "The Highway Mafia".  She has stated in many interviews that Thalapathy Vijay is her primary choice to play the male lead in her proposed movie adaptation of her story.

We caught up with Suchitra for an exclusive interview as to what her script is all about and why she has thinks Thalapathy Vijay would suit the character.  She explains that the story is based on the illegal cattle trading that goes on in the highways and the mafia she refers to is those involved in it.  She has personally watched trucks carrying about 50 cows and has confirmed that each one costs around 30000 rupees which is handled in black money.

Suchitra says she was hesitant to write the screenplay as she was not confident that she could bring all the contents of the book on film.  But those who read the book had given the feedback that it very visual and gives the feeling of watching a movie.  The young Chennai based author's choice for her male lead is Vijay in Tamil and Mahesh Babu in Telugu.  She feels that Vijay is an activist first and can take this subject to the people and also has the stature to withstand any problems that might arise due to the expose of a mafia.

There is more about the project in the video interview below and Suchitra reveals how she plans to go about assembling a team for the proposed movie and how she cannot think of anyone else other than Thalapathy Vijay to head the project.
