India Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that world had finally understood terrorism and the need to uproot it as India understood it 20 years ago, addressing the Indian American community at the Ritz Carlton in Virginia. He added that India`s surgical strikes in September last year were proof that the country “practices restrain but can show power when needed”.

He promised the attending Indian diaspora that his government is making smart use of technology to put an end to corruption, and said that the Indian Embassy will always find a solution to any problem the Indian community might have. After listing the achievements of his government, he praised External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for demonstrating proper use of social media in good governance. He also said that India had a tradition of following the world order, low-key calling out China`s actions in the South China Sea.
