Actor Suriya had two releases this year, the political entertainer NGK directed by Selvaraghavan and the recently released action movie Kaappaan directed by KV Anand. Kaappan had Suriya playing an NSG officer, and the movie which spoke on agriculture, had been appreciated by farmer unions.

Suriya will be seen next in the movie Soorarai Pottru directed by Irudhi Suttru director Sudha Kongara, and the movie is produced by Suriya's 2D Entertainment. The team had recently completed shooting, and it has been speculated that Soorarai Pottru might be released in December.

It was said that this movie will be based on the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath, and now it has been revealed that Suriya plays a character named Nedumaran Rajangam and Aparna Balamurali who plays his wife will be seen as Bommi. Soorarai Pottru also stars Karunas and Kaali Venkat.
