Authorities have arrested one person in connection with the shooting at the Texas State Fair on Saturday night, which hurt three people.

The Dallas police said the event happened around 7:45 p.m. local time, near the food court of the Dallas State Fair. Luckily, none of the three victims' injuries were thought to be life-threatening. The killing happened when one man opened fire on another man, according to the first reports. Although the shooter tried to get away, he or she was caught. Police also stated that the gun had been found and said that the investigation is still going on.

In reaction to the shooting, the State Fair of Texas said on X (which used to be Twitter) that park visitors would be leaving at around 8 p.m. local time on Saturday. It will take longer for the fair to open the next day because of what happened.

Adam Bazaldua, a member of the Dallas City Council, said that the killing started with a fight between two people who knew each other. Taking advantage of the chance, he pushed for stricter gun laws in Texas, stressing the need for steps to stop senseless gun crime.

Bazaldua voiced his worries, saying, "It's one thing to have the right to bear arms; it's quite another to pass laws, like permitless carry, that make it easier for senseless acts of gun violence like this one to happen in our state." I hope that our Republican friends in Austin will pass sensible gun laws that will make everyone safer.

The State Fair's rules say that people with legal handgun licenses can bring concealed weapons to the event. However, it is still not clear if the suspect had a legal license or what kind of gun was used in the incident.
