A 15-year-old boy in Chennai has reportedly lost vision in one eye after being hit hard on the head by one of his teachers.

According to a report by a news agency, the incident happened nearly a month ago, when the Class 10 boy, identified as Karthik, was hit on the head by his Tamil teacher in the Government Higher Secondary School in Medavakkam. He returned home and narrated the incident to his mother and refused to go to school the next day. He had allegedly been complaining of a headache and eye pain since February 5 and his eyes subsequently started swelling and reddening. That was when his mother decided to take him to a hospital. The doctors apparently informed Karthik's parents that he had lost vision in one eye.

Karthik's mother has registered a complaint with a local police station against the teacher and is awaiting a copy of the FIR. Further details are awaited as the police are yet to begin an inquiry.
